World Meteorological Organization: High probability of experiencing the warmest year again in the next five years.
According to the latest climate report released by the World Meteorological Organization on May 28, it is predicted that between 2025 and 2029, there will be an 80% chance of experiencing the "warmest years on record" to date. This means that at least one year during these five years will have a global average temperature surpassing the record set in 2024. Experts warn that while an increase of over 1.5 degrees Celsius from pre-industrial levels for a single year's average temperature does not officially breach the threshold mentioned in the Paris Agreement, such an increase could trigger more severe extreme weather events, leading to more serious impacts of climate change such as accelerated melting of sea ice and glaciers, ocean warming, and rising sea levels. Each 0.1 degree Celsius increase in temperature is of significant importance.
