According to the Russian Ministry of Defense on May 25, Yaroslav Yakimkin, director of the "Northern" troops cluster news center, stated that after the recapture of Kursk Oblast, the Russian military cluster is carrying out combat missions to establish a secure zone along the Russian national border. Yakimkin further explained that in just the past week, the Russian military has taken control of the Marloy village and the Lokeniya village in the Sumy direction, and has made significant progress in the Volchansk region in the Kharkov direction. He said that currently, the troops are advancing daily to establish a "buffer zone" and ensure the safety of civilians in the Russian border areas.
