Vietnam holds state funeral for deceased former State President Tran Duc Luong.
On the morning of the 24th, at 6 o'clock local time, a flag-lowering ceremony was held at Ba Dinh Square in the Vietnamese capital Hanoi, marking the beginning of a two-day state funeral for former Vietnamese President Tran Dai Quang. That morning, Vietnamese party and state leaders, as well as people from all walks of life, came to pay their respects to Tran Dai Quang. In the central hall of the Vietnamese National Funeral Home, Tran Dai Quang's coffin was draped with the Vietnamese flag. With solemn music playing, the mourning ceremony began at 7 o'clock, attended by General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong, President of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, and National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, among others. According to the Vietnamese News Agency, the mourning ceremony lasted from 7am on the 24th until 7am on the 25th. The memorial service will be held at the National Funeral Home at 7am on the 25th, and Tran Dai Quang's body will be buried in his hometown of Ninh Binh province at 3pm on the 25th. Mourning ceremonies and memorial services will also be held simultaneously in Ho Chi Minh City and Ninh Binh province. During the two-day state funeral, all government agencies and public places in the country will fly flags at half-mast and suspend all public entertainment activities.
