On May 23rd, it was reported that India is opening up its protected government procurement market to foreign companies, including those from the United States. This shift, which began with the opening to the United Kingdom earlier this month under a trade agreement, may potentially extend to other trading partners. Reports indicate that during negotiations for a trade agreement with the United States, the Indian government is likely to allow American companies to bid on contracts worth over $50 billion.
