Wang Yi meets with President of the US-Asia Association Kang Jinghe.
Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs Wang Yi met with President of the Asia Society, Kevin Rudd, in Beijing on May 20. Wang Yi said that China's policy towards the United States maintains continuity and stability, always following the three principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and win-win cooperation proposed by President Xi Jinping. In recent high-level economic and trade talks between China and the US, progress has been made, once again demonstrating that equal dialogue, mutual respect, and handling each other's legitimate concerns properly are in line with the common interests of both countries. However, at the same time, the US continues to suppress China's legitimate right to development and recently attempted to comprehensively block Chinese chips, which is a blatant act of unilateral bullying that China firmly opposes. Wang Yi stated that China's distinctive diplomacy is rooted in the five thousand years of Chinese civilization, advocating and practicing true multilateralism and open regionalism, consolidating the greatest common denominator of unity and cooperation to jointly address global challenges. The Asia-Pacific region brings together common interests of China and the US, as well as concentrating their differences. China and the US should, first and foremost, achieve constructive interaction in the Asia-Pacific region and then establish the right way to coexist, finding effective ways to achieve win-win cooperation. China appreciates the Asia Society's efforts to enhance dialogue, exchanges, and mutual understanding between China and the US, and hopes that the Asia Society will continue to play a bridging role in enhancing the correct understanding of China in American society. Kevin Rudd expressed that the Asia Society has a deep understanding of China's thousands of years of cultural accumulation and is willing to continue sharing fact-based and objective understanding of China, working with more knowledgeable Americans to build a dialogue platform for eliminating misunderstandings and promoting understanding.
