The Sudanese armed forces claim control over the strategic area at the tri-border region of Sudan, Libya, and Chad.
On May 18th, local time, Sudanese Darfur regional leader Minawi announced that the Sudanese armed forces, along with local armed forces allied with them, had taken control of the strategic location of Atlan at the tri-border area of Sudan, Libya, and Chad. Atlan is located in the tri-border area of Sudan, Libya, and Chad in the northwest of North Darfur State. It is a crucial supply route for foreign rapid support forces to transport personnel, weapons, fuel, and other supplies to Sudan. Its strategic importance is significant. Since 2024, the Sudanese armed forces and rapid support forces have engaged in several intense clashes in the region.
