Tianwen-2 probe smoothly entered the launch area and is planned to be launched at the end of May.
According to a message from the China National Space Administration, on May 18th, the Tianwen-2 probe of the planetary exploration project completed technical zone assembly, testing, fueling, and other work as planned at the Xichang Satellite Launch Center, and smoothly transitioned to the launch area. Following this, various functional checks and joint tests will be carried out as planned, with the launch scheduled to take place at the end of May. The Tianwen-2 mission will involve a single launch to implement tasks such as flyby, sampling, and return of the near-Earth asteroid 2016HO3, as well as flyby exploration of the main belt comet 311P. Previously, the Long March 3B carrier rocket assigned to launch the Tianwen-2 mission successfully transitioned from the technical zone to the launch area on May 14th, and completed lifting and docking work.
