The US Department of Justice has not yet decided whether to reach a non-prosecution agreement with Boeing to dismiss the criminal charges related to the two fatal 737 Max air disasters. Government attorneys informed the families of the victims of a possible agreement framework, including the highest fines, improved compliance measures, establishment of an independent oversight body, and the creation of a victim compensation fund. The Department of Justice stated that a decision will be made after consulting with the families, who must submit written opinions by May 22. After that, the Department of Justice will decide whether to proceed with a trial or reach a settlement.
