New regulations on automobiles are seeking opinions, and automatic emergency braking systems will be mandatory installed.
According to reports, the highly anticipated mandatory national standard "Technical requirements and test methods for automatic emergency braking system of light vehicles" has completed the drafting process and entered the public consultation stage. This standard will replace the current national standard GB/T39901-2021, with the deadline for comments set for June 30, 2025. Compared to the current standard, the new standard has changed from being recommended to mandatory, and the scope has been expanded to include not only M1 type passenger vehicles but also N1 type cargo vehicles. The new standard also includes assessment of the recognition ability of vulnerable road users such as pedestrians, cyclists, and pedal-type two-wheeled motorcycles, as well as new simulation test items. The technical requirements align with the international regulation UN-R152. This means that after the mandatory national standard is implemented, all passenger vehicles in the Chinese market must be equipped with automatic emergency braking systems, and the countdown for the large-scale pre-installation of automatic emergency braking systems in automobiles has begun.
