An important Democratic environmental Senator in the United States is interested in understanding the impact of Meta Platforms, owned by Mark Zuckerberg, investing billions of dollars to build an artificial intelligence (AI) data center in the northeast part of Louisiana on the climate. Meta is partnering with the regional utility company Entergy to carry out the project. Entergy has requested the state commission to expedite approval for the construction of three new gas turbine power plants in the area to provide power to the data center.
