President Donald Trump said India has proposed to cancel tariffs on American goods. Currently, India is seeking a tariff agreement with the United States. Trump spoke at an event with business leaders in Qatar on Thursday, saying the Indian government "has offered us a deal where essentially they would not charge us any tariffs." Trump did not provide more details on the proposal from New Delhi and the Indian government did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Trump also said that during his meeting with Apple CEO Tim Cook, he expressed his opposition to Apple expanding production capacity in India. "I said I don't want you to be building in India," Trump said of his conversation with Cook. Regarding the outcome of the meeting, Trump said Apple will "increase production in the United States."
