Goodbye to household registration book! Starting today, marriage registration can be processed nationwide.
The newly revised Marriage Registration Regulations comes into effect today, with one important change being the implementation of "nationwide marriage registration processing", further increasing the convenience of marriage registration. The revised Marriage Registration Regulations stipulate that marriage registration processing should be conducted nationwide. Marriage registration authorities are required to verify the documents and written materials provided by the parties to the marriage registration, inquire about relevant situations, and conduct online verification of the identity and marital status information of the parties in order to legally protect the rights of the parties involved. Additionally, from today onwards, there is no longer a need to present a household registration book when applying for marriage or divorce registration. Mainland residents applying for marriage registration only need to provide their resident identity card, a signed declaration stating that they are not married and that there are no direct blood relations or blood relations within three generations to the other party.
