US Treasury Secretary warns that the special measures for the federal government's debt limit may be exhausted by August, urging Congress to take action as soon as possible.
According to the Wise Finance and Economics app, US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen recently wrote to House Speaker Johnson, warning that the "unconventional measures" used by the Treasury to avoid defaulting on debt may be exhausted as early as August this year. She urged Congress to raise or suspend the debt ceiling before the mid-July recess to safeguard the creditworthiness and debt-paying ability of the US government.
