After experiencing multiple radar system failures at Newark Airport, sources revealed that the US aviation authority and several airlines are planning to hold talks on further reducing the number of flights at the airport. The sources said that the current plan being considered is to encourage airlines to voluntarily reduce their flights at Newark within a specified time frame. The Department of Transportation is expected to arrange meetings with top executives from several airlines in the coming weeks. Newark Liberty International Airport experienced another incident of air traffic control communication and radar screen interruption on Friday, the second time in two weeks. A similar incident occurred on April 28. Although no injuries or aviation accidents occurred in either incident, they have raised high levels of concern within the regulatory and industry sectors.
