Since the US government announced the implementation of a series of tariff policies, various industries in the United States have been impacted to varying degrees, including the bicycle industry and the children's products industry. Arnold Kempler, the head of a US bicycle company, said: "For a wheel like this, our original cost was about $10 to $12, but after the tariff, the cost is now $30." In Kempler's company, about 90% of bicycles are imported from China, while other bicycles are assembled in the United States but the parts still come from Asia. Kempler said that in just one month from March 20 to April 20, the company paid over $3.1 million in tariffs.
