According to data released by the US Department of Labor on Thursday, the seasonally adjusted number of initial jobless claims dropped by 13,000 to 228,000 people in the week ending May 3, which was closely in line with the median forecast of economists. The number of ongoing jobless claims also fell to 1.88 million last week.
