Two informed sources said that the U.S. Federal Human Resources Bureau is preparing to launch software to speed up the pace of layoffs in the U.S. government. The FAA is at the core of billionaire Elon Musk's plan to reduce federal employees. The software is an upgraded version of the Pentagon's decades-old AutoRIF program, which has been used rarely in recent years. Four sources, who did not want to be named, said that under the guidance of Musk's Government Efficiency Department, software developers at the U.S. Office of Personnel Management have created a more user-friendly online version in the past few months, which can provide layoff targets faster than the current labor-intensive manual process. The plan will be rolled out to various agencies by the Office of Personnel Management, while Musk is currently stepping back from DOGE to focus more on Tesla and his other companies.
