On May 7th, Pony.ai announced an update on public information, revealing that Uber has made a new investment in the company. Uber has pledged to add an additional $100 million in equity investment to Pony.ai on top of its existing investments. This is reported to be Uber's largest investment in the autonomous driving field to date. The investment is expected to be completed in the coming months at a time chosen by Pony.ai. Currently, Uber and Pony.ai co-operate the largest Robotaxi fleet outside of the Chinese and American markets. On May 6th, the two companies jointly announced plans to deploy Robotaxi in 15 new cities over the next five years, including markets in Europe, the Middle East, and others. The fleet size is expected to reach hundreds of thousands.
