In the early hours of May 4th, the official vote count announced by the Singapore Elections Department showed that the ruling party, the People's Action Party, emerged victorious in the 2025 general election. A total of 209 candidates from 11 political parties and 2 independent candidates competed for the 97 seats in 33 constituencies in this parliamentary election. This election marks the first time since taking office in 2024 that current Prime Minister, Heng Swee Keat, led the People's Action Party in a parliamentary election. Singapore's Parliament operates on a unicameral system, where members are elected by voters and serve a 5-year term. The party holding the majority of seats in Parliament can form the government.
