The Port of Los Angeles is the largest and busiest container port in the United States. Recently, due to the impact of the U.S. government's tariff policy, the cargo throughput at the Port of Los Angeles has significantly declined, causing a ripple effect on the supply chain and labor market surrounding the port, severely affecting the livelihoods of dock workers and truck drivers. Montalbo, a truck company owner who voted for Trump in the 2024 election, stated that angry truck drivers can be found at any port in the United States now. He called on Trump to "come to the port and see the reality" and see how the tariff war is crushing the livelihoods of truck drivers. According to Gene Seroka, the executive director of the Port of Los Angeles, goods from China account for approximately 45% of the port's business, and under the tariff policy, some major retailers in the U.S. have suspended shipments of all Chinese goods.
