Why can't Apple phones be manufactured in the United States?
5 m ago
The British Financial Times website recently published an article titled "Why the Trump Administration Can't Manufacture Apple iPhones in the United States." The article states that just by looking at the inside of an iPhone, it is clear how complex Apple's supply chain has become - which is why analysts believe the idea of bringing manufacturing back to the United States through tariffs is unrealistic. The new model of the iPhone is a precise puzzle made up of about 2,700 different components. Apple has 187 suppliers in 28 countries and regions. Data shows that less than 5% of Apple's iPhone components are currently manufactured in the United States. Some predict that if an iPhone were completely assembled in the US, the cost could be as high as $3,500. The difficulty for Apple in moving its production to the US is not just about labor costs. The bigger issue is the inability to transfer the complex global supply chain that has been built up over decades. (CCTV International News).
