According to reports, during Samsung's first quarter 2025 earnings conference call today, the issue of US tariffs "inevitably became the focus of discussion." Samsung confirmed during the conference call that the company is considering relocating production lines for products such as smartphones and tablets to areas with lower tariffs in order to mitigate the impact of tariffs on product profit. In addition, Samsung also stated that in the current uncertain international trade environment, its mobile division is stimulating flagship smartphone sales through various means to maintain profitability. Currently, most of Samsung's smartphone and tablet production lines are located in Vietnam, but the US government currently imposes tariffs as high as 46% on Vietnam. Foreign media reports suggest that Samsung may transfer some production capacity for the US market to India, where the US government imposes tariffs of 26% as a comparison. The US has temporarily suspended the implementation of corresponding tariffs for 90 days to allow time for negotiations, and Samsung stated that the company is closely monitoring changes in the global market situation and will take various measures when necessary.
