Wang Yi meets with South African Foreign Minister Lamola

On April 29, 2025, local time, Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with South African Foreign Minister Ramola in Rio de Janeiro. Wang Yi stated that the United States prioritizes its own interests, fosters protectionism, and arbitrarily imposes tariffs on the world, including Africa, which is a typical act of unilateral bullying. China will take necessary countermeasures, not only to safeguard its legitimate rights and interests, but also to defend the common interests of the global South.
