The Taiwan Affairs Office responds to the heated discussion in the island about the China Film Consumption Year event.
On April 30, the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council held a routine press conference. During the conference, journalists from the Central Radio and Television General Station, Taiwan Strait Radio, and "Watching Taiwan" new media asked questions. The National Film Administration and the Central Radio and Television General Station recently launched the "China Film Consumption Year" activity, which has been widely watched and praised by Taiwan compatriots. Many Taiwanese have already obtained discount coupons and are preparing to travel to the mainland to watch movies during the May Day holiday. What is your comment on this?
Spokesperson Zhu Fenglian of the Taiwan Affairs Office responded that during this year's May Day holiday, more than 10 new films, such as "Dumpling Queen," "Unique," and "Lure of the Game," will be released, covering various genres such as drama, action, comedy, and animation to meet the diverse viewing needs of the audience. In addition, the movie "The Legend of Xigui," which tells the story of cross-strait youth with Yunnan Lincang Xigui tea mountain as the background, held its premiere ceremony in Kunming, Yunnan on April 29 and will soon be screened, along with the launch of offline activities such as "Follow the Movie to Taste Tea" and "Find the Most Stylish 100 Tea Houses." The popular animated film "Ne Zha," which has broken multiple global animation records, will continue to be screened until May 31. We welcome Taiwan compatriots to come to the mainland and enjoy the "May Day" movie feast, unlocking various viewing experiences. You can not only step into the cinema to enjoy the charm of light and shadow but also visit the filming locations or taste the delicious food presented in the movies, enriching your viewing experience.
The "China Film Consumption Year" activity runs throughout the year, covering all key periods. It focuses on achieving cross-industry and inter-departmental collaborative linkage in the film industry, with rich content, enhanced benefits, and many discounts. We welcome Taiwan compatriots to continue to pay attention and actively participate in experiencing the joy and beauty of the "Film + Culture and Tourism" linkage in the mainland.
