The Ministry of Foreign Affairs responds to the US stating that China should ease the trade war.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun presided over the routine press conference on April 29th. During the conference, a foreign journalist asked: Yesterday, US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said that he believes China should ease the trade war, as the products sold by China to the US are five times more than the products sold by the US to China, and a 125% tariff is unsustainable. Do you agree that China has a responsibility to ease tensions first? Guo Jiakun responded that China has repeatedly stated that there are no winners in a trade war, and that the trade war was initiated by the US. If the US wants to solve the problem through dialogue and negotiation, it should stop threatening and pressuring, and engage in dialogue with China on the basis of equality, respect, and reciprocity.
