"China Buy" has become another business card of the Chinese economy.
While "ChinaTravel" continues to be popular, "ChinaBuy" has become a new hot topic in recent discussions about China. On one hand, stimulated by policies such as departure tax refunds, inbound consumption has significantly increased. In 2024, total spending by inbound tourists reached $94.2 billion, a year-on-year increase of 77.8%. On the other hand, products in "ChinaBuy" are being upgraded, with products such as unique cultural and creative items and drones becoming the "new favorites" for foreign tourists to purchase in China. Recently, the Ministry of Commerce and five other departments jointly issued a notice on further optimizing the departure tax refund policy to expand inbound consumption. The new policies include lowering the minimum refund amount from 500 RMB to 200 RMB, increasing the cash refund limit from 10,000 RMB to 20,000 RMB, and are expected to further heat up the trend of "ChinaBuy".
