United Nations officials: deeply concerned about the killing of civilians in the capital region of Sudan.

On April 28 local time, Clementine Nkweta-Salami, the United Nations Resident Humanitarian Coordinator in Sudan, issued a statement expressing deep concern about the increasingly dire risks faced by civilians in the Greater Khartoum area of the capital of Sudan. He stated that the situation in the Sudanese capital Khartoum remains extremely volatile. Salami said that there have been "shocking" reports of brutal attacks on civilians by armed groups in the Salha area of Greater Khartoum. Salami reiterated that civilians should not be targets of attacks, and that all parties to the conflict must abide by international humanitarian law and international human rights law.
