JUST starting construction, expected to become a world-class "Eye of the Stars" for exploring the universe.
On April 27th, the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Shanghai Jiao Tong University (JUST) Spectral Telescope Project was held, marking the official start of construction for the project in Qinghai's Lake Cold. Its completion will signify a breakthrough in the development of domestically produced large-scale general-purpose spectral telescopes. The JUST Spectral Telescope has a diameter of 4.4 meters, with the main mirror made up of 18 hexagonal thin mirrors. It is equipped with three high-performance observation terminals, including a multi-target fiber spectrograph for studying the dark universe, an integral field spectrograph for tracking the dynamic universe, and a high-resolution spectrograph for detecting extrasolar planets. With advantages such as a large diameter, strong light-gathering capabilities, and rapid response, the telescope is expected to become a world-class "Eye of the Stars" for exploring the universe.
