Minister of Finance, Lou Jiwei: China calls on international organizations such as the World Bank to promote the principles of non-discrimination, free trade, etc., and jointly uphold an open and cooperative international environment.
On April 24, 2025, the World Bank held the 111th meeting of the Development Committee in Washington, D.C., where the "Employment: Path to Prosperity" report was discussed and approved. The Minister of Finance and China's Director at the World Bank, Lan Fo'an, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. Lan Fo'an stated that current trade protection policies pose significant risks to global poverty reduction and development efforts. China called on international organizations such as the World Bank to promote non-discrimination and free trade principles, and to jointly uphold an open and cooperative international environment. Lan Fo'an pointed out that China is both a beneficiary and contributor to global economic integration, with its contribution to global economic growth remaining at around 30% in recent years. In the face of a complex external environment, China will adopt more proactive macroeconomic policies to achieve its annual growth targets and continue to provide stability and momentum to the global economy. China remains committed to its fundamental policy of reform and opening up, granting zero-tariff treatment to products from all least developed countries with diplomatic relations and expressing readiness to further open up its vast market to the world for mutual benefit.
