Affected by the earthquake, Ecuador's oil company has temporarily suspended operation of the country's pipeline system.
On the morning of April 26th local time, a 6.3 magnitude earthquake struck the northern coastal area of Ecuador, with tremors felt in 52 cities across 10 provinces. The Ecuadorian Petroleum Company issued a statement declaring the temporary suspension of operations at the Esmeraldas refinery and the country's pipeline system in order to implement monitoring and prevention measures. Following the earthquake, Ecuador's Minister of Labor, Nunez, announced the suspension of public and private sector work in the province of Esmeraldas, excluding essential services such as healthcare.
