Sony PS6 may be released in 2027

In Sony's FY2026 Q2 earnings conference call, the company provided its first relatively clear official statement on the development progress of the PlayStation 6. The company's Chief Financial Officer noted that R&D work on the next-generation console platform is progressing steadily, with the overall pace in line with the established plan. Under the current arrangement, related investment will be concentrated in FY2027, with the goal of achieving key breakthroughs and substantive progress within that fiscal year. In addition, Sony has completed negotiations with major suppliers to determine the procurement volume of memory chips needed for the next fiscal year, an amount sufficient to support the expected hardware shipment targets.
