Cui Dongshu, President of the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA), published an exploration of tiered calculations for new passenger car models, noting that from January to October this year there were 129 new products in total, including 42 extended-range models, 26 more than the same period last year; 10 hybrid models, 10 more than the same period; 31 narrow-definition plug-in hybrid models, 6 fewer than the same period; 68 battery electric models, 11 more than the same period; and 9 conventional fuel vehicles, 4 fewer than the same period. Some of these new cars are all-new models, some are facelifted or renamed new models, and most are new energy models. The number of gasoline vehicles in the past two years has decreased significantly compared with the earlier period, but many new hybrid models have been launched this year, reflecting a new approach in which hybrids replace fuel vehicles to achieve export breakthroughs.
