Zhitong Finance APP has learned that Wall Street strategists have warned that, as the U.S. Treasury raises its borrowing expectations and plans to maintain a record cash reserve, the U.S. government may hit the statutory debt ceiling as early as February 2027, significantly earlier than previously expected. At that time, the Treasury will have to initiate special accounting measures to avoid breaching the borrowing limit. And if Congress is unable to reach an agreement on raising or suspending the debt ceiling for a prolonged period, the U.S. government may face the risk of running out of funds in the second half of 2027.
