Trkiye bans social media accounts for those under 15.
The Turkish Presidential Office issued regulations on October 10 prohibiting minors under the age of 15 from opening social media accounts. The regulations will officially take effect on November 1. According to the regulations, social network service providers must verify the age of users during the account creation stage. Account applications from minors under the age of 15 should be rejected, and for accounts of minors aged 15 to under 18, parental control tools must be provided, and service providers are also required to set up high-level privacy protection and implement content filtering, among other measures. The regulations also stipulate that social network service providers "must not offer any services that may produce addictive effects" and "must not include live streaming functions," among other provisions.
