Brazil's prosecution department filed a lawsuit on October 9 against the Brazilian subsidiary of international energy giant Shell, demanding $108 million in compensation for losses related to the 2024 floods in southern Brazil, on the grounds that Shell should be held responsible for losses caused by greenhouse gas emissions that exacerbate climate change.
