A White House official revealed that U.S. President Trump is expected to announce on Wednesday afternoon in the Oval Office that South Korea plans to invest $200 billion in U.S. energy projects, including the construction of 8 nuclear power plants, investment in a power generation facility in Texas, and participation in an Alaska liquefied natural gas (LNG) export project. It was previously reported that South Korea plans to provide $54 billion in support for the Alaska LNG project. This $200 billion investment is among the first batch of projects to receive support under the framework of last year's U.S.-South Korea trade agreement. Under the agreement, South Korea pledged to invest $350 billion in the United States. The projects announced by Trump this time involve new investment commitments. The South Korean government has not yet publicly confirmed the specific details of this announcement.
