According to a report by the Financial Times on Wednesday, Susan Collins, president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, stated that she would support an interest rate hike in September if inflation remains persistently high. Currently, with the war in Iran exacerbating the cost of living pressures, low-income groups in the United States are struggling to "make ends meet." In an interview, Collins expressed her willingness to support an interest rate increase as early as September if the data indicates a need. "I do believe that the economic situation in the coming months may require tightening monetary policy, and in that case, I am prepared to raise rates," she said. The president of the Boston Federal Reserve Bank is currently not a voting member of the Federal Open Market Committee, which is responsible for setting interest rates.
