The Chicago Mercantile Exchange and Silicon Data plan to launch two computing power futures contracts in October.
According to Zhitong Finance APP, on August 12, the Chicago Mercantile Exchange Group (CME Group) announced plans to launch two computing power futures contracts in collaboration with Silicon Data on October 5, 2026, currently awaiting regulatory review. These innovative trading instruments will provide hedging and investment tools for companies looking to manage their computing costs. The two contracts are the Silicon Data H100 Lease Index Futures and the Silicon Data B200 Lease Index Futures, which will track an index measuring the hourly leasing costs of graphics processing units (GPUs). These new contracts will be listed on the CME and governed by the rules of the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX), becoming effective only after obtaining regulatory approval.
