A report released by the U.S. Congressional Budget Office on the 5th estimates that the new nuclear-powered "Golden Fleet" that President Trump is advocating for may require spending approximately $275 billion over the coming decades. Among these, the estimated cost of the first "Trump-class" battleship, the USS Undaunted, is projected to be at least 50% higher than originally planned. In December 2025, Trump announced that the U.S. military would create the "Golden Fleet," with the initial construction of two battleships, followed by the quick addition of another eight, ultimately resulting in a total of 20 to 25 new battleships. These battleships will have a displacement of 30,000 to 40,000 tons and will be equipped with hypersonic weapons, railguns, cruise missiles, and laser weapons, becoming the flagship of the U.S. Navy fleet. The report from the Congressional Budget Office states that, according to the budget originally submitted by the U.S. Navy to Congress, the first ship, the USS Undaunted, is estimated to cost about $15.1 billion in 2026 dollar value, while the average cost for the second and third battleships is around $10.2 billion.
