World Health Organization: The spread of the Ebola outbreak in Congo has exceeded the response capability.
On August 4th local time, the World Health Organization stated that the spread of the Ebola outbreak in the Congo has exceeded the response capacity, now becoming the largest outbreak in the countrys history. As of August 1st, there have been a cumulative total of 3,748 confirmed cases, including 1,657 deaths and 708 recoveries. The WHO indicated that the outbreak has now affected 49 health zones across five provinces in the Congo, with approximately 17,000 close contacts being monitored, of which over 80% are able to receive daily follow-ups.
