The steel mill is expected to lower prices for the third round tomorrow, and Changzhi City plans to resume production at one additional coal mine.
Chizhou City Qinyuan County is expected to resume production at one coal mine on August 5, with an approved capacity of 1.2 million tons, involving low-sulfur lean coal, primarily for self-use after resumption. Previously, three coal mines in the county had resumed production, with a total approved capacity of 4.5 million tons, while the remaining coal mines are waiting for inspection and acceptance. On the demand side, there is no significant improvement in steel demand, and recently some steel mills have announced additional maintenance schedules. This week, pig iron output may continue to decline, and there are still expectations for a third round of price reductions for coke, with downstream coke coal purchases remaining cautious. Overall, short-term coking coal prices are expected to maintain a fluctuating pattern with support on the downside and weak upward momentum.
