According to a news report from the U.S. on July 31, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky requested U.S. President Donald Trump and other officials to persuade Elon Musk, the founder of SpaceX, to allow the Ukrainian military to use SpaceX's satellite internet system, Starlink, to target Russian ballistic missile launch sites within Russia during his recent visit to the U.S. Currently, Russia has begun deploying a similar low-orbit satellite system like Starlink. On July 31, several sources indicated that Zelensky made this request directly to Trump during a closed-door meeting at the White House on July 28. According to Zelensky, Ukraine needs to carry out "more precise strikes" against Russian ballistic missile launch sites before winter to prevent Russia from launching a winter offensive and increasing strikes on Ukrainian energy facilities.
