Boris Johnson officially becomes the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, promising to push through the biggest changes in 40 years.

The newly appointed leader of the ruling Labour Party, Andy Burnham, was officially appointed as the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom by King Charles III at Buckingham Palace, and was given the authority to form a new cabinet. He is the seventh Prime Minister in over a decade in the UK. In his first speech after taking office, Burnham promised to introduce a "new economic model" and "new political model" to drive the largest scale of reforms in the UK in nearly 40 years, in order to end the long-standing political turmoil. Burnham emphasized in his first speech outside 10 Downing Street that he will address the public's disappointment with politics, making the current moment a "turning point" for the UK. In terms of governance principles, he announced immediate actions to lower the cost of living for the people, and clearly outlined the funding methods for related measures. This will serve as the first step towards a "decade plan", with core objectives including restructuring the government, devolving more power to local authorities, and placing some essential goods under "stronger public control".
