The 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference's "Artificial Intelligence and Energy Bi-directional Empowerment" sub-forum was held in Shanghai.

On July 17, 2026, the "Artificial Intelligence and Energy Empowerment" sub-forum of the World Artificial Intelligence Conference was held in Shanghai. The forum was organized by the National Energy Administration and co-organized by State Grid Corporation. Wang Hongzhi, Secretary of the Leading Party Group and Director of the National Energy Administration, and Zong Ming, Member of the Party Group of the Standing Committee of the Shanghai Municipal People's Congress and Deputy Director, attended the forum and delivered speeches. Song Hongkun, member of the Leading Party Group and Deputy Director of the National Energy Administration, delivered a keynote speech. Zhang Zhigang, Chairman of State Grid Corporation, Qian Zhaoyang, Chairman of Southern Power Grid Corporation, and other business leaders attended the forum. The forum, with the theme of "Empowering Development in Both Directions and Connecting Energy Intelligence to Create the Future", invited domestic and foreign academicians, as well as leading figures in artificial intelligence from enterprises, research institutes, and universities, to participate in in-depth exchanges on cutting-edge topics such as the coordinated construction of computational infrastructure and new energy systems, and the empowerment of artificial intelligence for high-quality energy development, sharing practical experiences and consensus on development. It was unanimously agreed that the dual empowerment of artificial intelligence and energy is the key to addressing the dual challenges of rapid growth in global computational power consumption and the green transformation of energy, and should be planned and laid out in a coordinated manner, with a focus on strengthening technological breakthroughs and improving mechanisms and standards, to achieve mutual promotion and deep integration of artificial intelligence and energy development. The forum comprehensively summed up the phased achievements of China's dual empowerment of artificial intelligence and energy, pointing out that under the coordinated promotion of the whole industry, the energy security capability, the breadth of application scenarios, the technical support foundation, and the vitality of the industrial ecosystem have continued to improve and optimize.
