Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region Meteorological Observatory issued an orange drought warning signal at 12:49 on July 15, 2026: According to the comprehensive meteorological drought index monitoring, as of July 15, more than 30% of counties and cities in the entire region have experienced severe drought at or above the severe level. The northern part of Tacheng region, Shihezi city, the western part of Changji Prefecture, Turpan city, and other areas have reached the level of extreme drought.
