Xi Jinping and Kim Jong-un, General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and Chairman of the State Affairs Commission, exchanged congratulatory messages on the 65th anniversary of the signing of the Sino-North Korean Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance.
On July 11th, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China and President Xi Jinping exchanged congratulatory messages with Kim Jong-un, General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and Chairman of the State Affairs Commission, on the 65th anniversary of the signing of the "Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation, and Mutual Assistance between China and North Korea".
Xi Jinping pointed out that in 1961, the older generation of leaders of China and North Korea signed the treaty, laying an important political and legal foundation for consolidating the combat friendship forged by the two peoples with blood. The treaty has played an important role in inheriting and promoting China-North Korea friendship, maintaining regional and world peace and stability. Over the past 65 years, both sides have upheld the spirit of the treaty, supporting each other, working together, and fighting side by side, vividly illustrating the distinct characteristics of the Sino-North Korean relationship, which is marked by generational friendship, shared destiny, and mutual assistance.
Xi Jinping emphasized that in June of this year, he successfully visited North Korea and reached important consensus with Comrade Kim Jong-un on consolidating and inheriting the traditional friendship between China and North Korea and injecting new meaning into the new era, providing strategic guidance and charting a new blueprint for the development of China-North Korea relations in the new era. Faced with the rapidly changing global situation, he is willing to further enhance strategic communication with Comrade Kim Jong-un, firmly grasp the direction of the development of bilateral relations, lead friendly cooperation between the two sides for the benefit of both peoples, and make positive contributions to promoting regional peace and development.
Xi Jinping reiterated that regardless of how the international situation may change, China's steadfast commitment to the traditional friendship with North Korea will not change, its strong support for Comrade Kim Jong-un's leadership of North Korea's socialist cause will not change, and its firm determination to uphold the common interests of China and North Korea and a good strategic environment will not change. He believes that under Comrade Kim Jong-un's leadership of the Workers' Party of Korea, the North Korean people will comprehensively implement the decisions and plans of the Ninth Congress, and continuously achieve new and greater accomplishments in socialist construction.
