The Republic of the Congo officials have confirmed that the Bougoumasi Potash Project, invested and developed by China's Shenzhen LuYuan Mining, is expected to restart commercial potash production in early 2027, ending decades of non-commercial potash production in the country. This project is also the fastest progressing among all potash projects in the Congo. According to the Minister of Mining and Geology, the Bougoumasi Project is planned to start trial production by the end of 2026 and achieve full production in the first quarter of 2027. The project is located in Kwilu Province, with an initial plan to produce 600,000 tons of potassium chloride annually, with expansion potential to 2 million tons in the future, and accompanying construction of a dedicated sea shipping export terminal.
