Indonesia's B50 biodiesel standard to take effect on July 1st.
The new Indonesian mandatory standard for the blending of biodiesel, which requires a 50% blend of palm-based biodiesel and traditional diesel, known as B50 biodiesel, officially took effect on Wednesday. Various stakeholders in the industry are still waiting for the government to announce the adjusted biodiesel distribution plan. In order to achieve energy independence, Indonesia has increased the mandatory biodiesel blending ratio from 40% to 50% starting from July 1. However, the current downward trend in crude oil prices and the persistent high prices of palm oil present operational challenges for the implementation of this policy.
