Our country has entered the main flood season today.
Starting today, our country has entered the main flood season comprehensively. According to forecasts and comprehensive analysis, during the main flood season, there will be rainy areas in both the north and south of the country, with a focus on flooding in the north. Locally, there will be more extreme rainstorms and floods. There is also a strong possibility of typhoons moving northward and affecting inland areas. Parts of southwest and northwest China may experience temporary drought due to high temperatures and lack of rain. The situation for flood control and drought resistance is severe and complex.
On the morning of July 1st, the Ministry of Water Resources organized a rolling consultation to analyze and assess the current and recent development trends of rainfall, water conditions, flood situations, and drought conditions, and deploy targeted key defense measures. According to the 24-hour rainfall forecast, "one province, one alert" targeted warnings were issued to 14 provinces including Liaoning, Shanghai, Zhejiang, Anhui, Jiangxi, Hubei, Hunan, Guangxi, Sichuan, Guizhou, Yunnan, Gansu, Qinghai, and Xinjiang. These warnings included information on the counties and reservoirs covered by heavy rainfall, as well as areas at risk of flash floods, reminding them to ensure the safety of reservoirs during the flood season, as well as to take measures to prevent flooding and flash floods in small and medium-sized rivers.
