South Steel and Rio Tinto carry out the first industrial test of the Pilbara iron ore alkaline pelletizing process

According to Rio Tinto Group, Nanjing Iron and Steel Co., Ltd. has successfully conducted industrial trials with Rio Tinto using the Pilbara blended fines to produce alkaline pellets, achieving a breakthrough in the use of Rio Tinto's Pilbara iron ore in this field. By carrying out this trial at the Nansteel base, the Pilbara blended fines have achieved industrial-scale production of high-quality alkaline pellets under high blending ratios. Compared to conventional pellets, alkaline pellets have better adaptability in the blast furnace, thereby helping to improve ironmaking efficiency, reduce fuel consumption, and carbon emissions.
